A&P Engineers was tasked with conducting a Road Safety Audit (RSA) along SR-817/University Drive from Nova Street to SR-84 in the City of Davie. The RSA originated from a request from a Lieutenant in the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) due to concerns about the number of incidents occurring along the segment during congested periods.  A&P put together a multidisciplinary team of experts to conduct field reviews, analyze crash data along the segment, identify safety issues, and develop feasible recommendations for implementation. Recommendations to the signal operations were made regarding Time-of-Day Plans settings, and alternative conceptual designs were presented to increase capacity and foster traffic progression onto the SR-84 on-ramp. Consideration was given to maintaining the availability of pedestrian and bicycle facilities and transit access points.
