Traffic Safety

D4 Traffic Operations and Safety Studies Contract

A&P Engineers consults for the District IV Traffic Operations Office on a Traffic Operations and Safety Studies contract. We provide in-house support to the department in addition to other assigned tasks. The contract tasks cover various traffic operations and safety studies including:

  • Permit reviews for special events

  • Signal retiming for safety

  • Structural analysis of traffic structures

  • Lighting studies

  • Fatal crash reviews

  • Road Safety Audits (RSAs)

  • Crash analysis

  • No-passing zone studies

  • Sight distance studies

  • Updating the FDOT Skid Hazard Reporting System and the Geographic Information Systems (GIS).

The studies conducted under this contract must adhere to the District IV Safety Study Process Flowchart, and entail presentation of findings and recommendations along with conceptual drawings to the Safety Review Committee (SRC).

  • SR-816/Oakland Park Boulevard from NE 3rd Avenue to SR-5/US-1/N Federal HighwaySafety Lighting Study

  • SR-817/University Drive and Johnson Street Intersection:

Safety Assessment, including Crash Analysis, Sight Distance evaluation of left turn bays, lighting evaluation, and benefit/cost & Net Present Value analysis.

  • SR-809/Military Trail and Cresthaven Boulevard Intersection:

Safety Assessment

  • SR-A1A and SR-842/Las Olas Boulevard:

Monitoring of Exclusive Pedestrian Phase (Conflict Analysis)

  • SR-805/Dixie Highway between SR-802/Lake Avenue & SR-802/Lucerne Avenue:

Feasibility Study of recommendations proposed from a safety evaluation. 

  • SR-811/N Dixie Highway near NE 42nd Street:

Safety Assessment of Horizontal Curve

  • SR-786/PGA Boulevard with Lake Victoria Gardens Avenue and Fairchild Gardens Avenue:

Structural Analysis for Intersection Traffic Signal Mast Arms
